Fees
Fraser Coast Psychology is not a bulk billing practice.
Please note that our fees are already well below the industry standard for session fees, which is set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) National Schedule of Suggested Fees 2024 – 2025 ($311 – Registered Psychologist for 46 – 60 minute session with a registered psychologist).
1. Private Psychology Consultation:
Private consultations are fully funded by the client. Payment is required at the time of consultation.
If you wish, you may claim through your private health fund; however this is not facilitated in-office. Please note that Medicare rebates are not applicable.
Psychologist | Full Fee (Paid at Appointment) |
Kym Lingard – Registered Psychologist | $200 |
Tania Van Wijk – Registered Clinical Psychologist | $220 |
Trudi McCabe – Registered Psychologist | $190 |
Grace Hess – Registered Psychologist | $190 |
2. Mental Health Care Plan:
Under Medicare there are specific plans that provide rebates for Psychological Services. The most common is a Mental Health Care Plan, which is developed by your Doctor to support Psychological Therapy for various mental health conditions.
Mental health care plans can benefit individuals dealing with a wide range of conditions, from minor concerns to more serious mental health conditions, and can be used for both short-term challenges or long-term conditions. You do not need to have a formal diagnosis of a mental health condition to discuss the possibility of creating a Mental Health Care Plan with your doctor.
Full fees are required at time of your appointment. Appointments may be in-person or via telehealth. Below are the fees for a 50-minute consultation with the treating psychologist:
Psychologist | Full Fee (Paid at Appointment) | Medicare Rebate – (if MHCP is applicable) | Approx out of pocket expense to client |
Kym Lingard – Registered Psychologist | $200 | $96.65 | $103.35 |
Tania Van Wijk – Registered Clinical Psychologist | $220 | $141.85 | $78.15 |
Trudi McCabe – Registered Psychologist | $190 | $96.65 | $93.35 |
Grace Hess – Registered Psychologist | $190 | $96.65 | $93.35 |
Your Doctor may refer you for services under other plans. The services provided, number of sessions, and rebates may vary depending on the specific plan. Please discuss your options with your doctor and/or psychologist to ensure you are referred under the most appropriate program for your needs.
3. NDIS
FCP Psychologists offer a wide range of services to eligible NDIS participants. To access our psychology services, NDIS participants must be either Self-Managed or Plan Managed. Please note that we do not provide services to NDIA (agency-managed) participants.
Our fees for NDIS services are based on the NDIS Price Guide for the 2024/2025 year, which is $222.50 per hour.
- Self-Managed Clients: Fees are payable at the time of the appointment (in-office)
- Plan-Managed Clients: An invoice will be sent directly to the nominated plan management agency and is payable within 7 days.
To proceed with NDIS services, we require a copy of the participant’s NDIS Plan to complete the Service Agreement. This plan must be provided either before or at the time of your initial appointment.
Cancellation Policy: As per NDIS guidelines, we require at least 2 business days’ notice for appointment cancellations. If you cancel after this period or fail to attend the scheduled appointment (Did Not Attend – DNA), the full session fee will be charged as a late cancellation or no-show fee.
During your initial consultation, the psychologist will review all NDIS-related information and documentation to ensure the service aligns with your NDIS plan and requirements.
4. WorkCover
Clients who are experiencing work-related psychological injuries can access psychological support through WorkCover Queensland. This support includes initial sessions with a qualified psychologist and, potentially, additional sessions with the support of a case manager and a medical diagnosis.
To access psychological services through WorkCover, a worker must have an active WorkCover claim number obtained from WorkCover Queensland.
The following psychologists at Fraser Coast Psychology are approved to provide WorkCover services:
- Trudi McCabe
- Tania Van Wijk
- Grace Hess
Fees for WorkCover services are in accordance with WorkCover guidelines. Fraser Coast Psychology will directly invoice WorkCover for the sessions, in line with the WorkCover session and payment criteria.
5. Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, free, and volunatary employee benefit designed to provide support for personal and work-related issues. EAP services help employees and their families manage stress, mental health challenges, and other concerns that may impact their well-being and work performance.
To access EAP services, please check with your employer to determine whether they offer this benefit and how to proceed with scheduling a session.
The following Psychologists at Fraser Coast Psychology offer EAP services:
- Trudi McCabe
- Tania Van Wijk
- Grace Hess
6. Assessments
Assessments are not covered under a Mental Health Care Plan. Depending on the request and the participant’s NDIS plan, assessments may or may not be covered under NDIS funding. Therefore, the cost of assessments, letters, and reports is generally privately funded, with fees discussed at the time of the request.
The cost of assessments and report writing can vary depending on the type of assessment, the time required to administer and score the assessment, and the complexity of the report.
Approximate Costs:
- Cognitive Assessment (IQ Assessment ie. Woodcock Johnson) – minimum of $2500
- Diagnostic Behavioural Assessments (typically requested by a Paediatrician, Psychiatrist etc for conditions such as ASD, ADHD etc) – minimum of $1500
Please note that Fraser Coast Psychology does not specifically conduct the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) assessment. If your specialist specifically requests this assessment, please feel free to discuss it with your psychologist, as alternative assessments may be available and potentially more suitable.
Payment: At the time of the assessment request, a 50% deposit will be required, along with the signing of a report contract. This contract ensures that the costs and expectations for the assessment are clearly understood.
Fees: Fees for assessments may vary depending on the psychologist conducting the assessment and the type of assessment or report required (e.g., Clinical Psychologist vs. Registered Psychologist).
For other assessments and reporting requirements, these will be discussed with you during the initial consultation with your psychologist. Generally, assessments and report writing are charged at the psychologist’s standard hourly rate as outlined above.
Please note that all assessments, letters, and reports are charged at the Psychologist’s hourly rate, unless they are required as part of the referral plan or reporting requirements.
